The design was inspired by the symmetrical structure of the Hymenocallis flower, which is mirrored in the Y-shaped floor plan that optimizes residential and commercial space.

It boasts the highest outdoor observation deck in the world, located on the 148th floor, which offers visitors panoramic views of the cityscape. The building also features the highest swimming pool in any building, located on the 76th floor, and the elevators inside the Burj Khalifa are among the fastest in the world, capable of reaching speeds up to 10 meters per second.
This architectural giant uses a state-of-the-art Y-shaped floor layout to reduce the wind forces on the building, as well as a sophisticated buttressed core system for structural support, allowing it to reach such extraordinary heights. The exterior of the Burj Khalifa is covered in reflective glazing with aluminum and textured stainless steel spandrel panels, which along with the high-performance insulated glass, helps to withstand Dubai's extreme temperatures.
